Throwing this review onto the school as a whole as well as the Bookstore as both are equally worthless. Anyone looking to enter the UW system in Wisconsin should look elsewhere. The entire system is ran as a for profit rather than for education.

UW - Stout blatantly hired professors that had little care for the wellbeing students, going as far as refusing to give above a C grade and explicitly telling students they are doing their work wrong without telling them how to fix it. It got so bad at Stout I had to have my head of degree removed after talking with the Chancellor of the school.

UW - Superior the head of my degree just did not care that we were living in an active pandemic and expected college students to be able to make a film faster and more efficiently than Hollywood could despite being shut down.

And UW - Eau Claire has just blatantly put the regards of students in the back only caring about the money that comes out of your pocket. The entire UW system is a sham and a joke.

Spend your money on literally any other college that exists. This one is not worth your time.

The University is quite repulsing to be present on. The dormitory and kitchen was very unsanitary. The professors have troubles being present for their own scheduled classes, but have no problem scolding you for being mere minutes late. The food was far from healthy or sufficient for anyone with any food restrictions. The students on shift at Mcphee also tend to not be present when you need assistance. The parking is also unreasonably over priced and staffed by lazy individuals. Chippewa Valley Technical College is by far a more cost effective choice. I’m glad the Tech was located in the Eau Claire region. Wouldn't recommend UWEC as the University for you. They only seem to have concern for the new students coming in, but once you are in they disregard you. I suppose that’s what creates revenue, is bringing in new students, but not for retaining them. Definitely go with the Tech. Professional resources and friendly faces are in surplus here.

Dropped out after 1 semester. The food is ok but expensive, the environment is horrible. The teachers and administration do not care about you. Do not go here if you are a foreign exchange student. The biology professor bullied a kid for an entire semester because he didnt know English. The education quality is that of a high school. It is not harder or anything. It doesn't teach you anything that you couldn't learn in high school. The price is way to expensive for what you are getting. It is a waste of time. The teachers sacrifice educational quality to push there agendas and ideas onto you. The infrastructure is horrendous and they distract you with crafts and games like your a kindergartener. Do not waste your time here, this collage is not worth it. I had better courses online than in school. The teachers will fail you if you do not regurgitate accepted opinions. This collage honestly just makes you dumber and weak overall. Dont waste your time here, if you need collage get a job and do it online because it is better and more time efficient then wasting your money, energy and time here. The education you get here is worthless and poison.

I love going to school here! They made my transfer process easy and accepted more credits than I expected. My advisor has been amazing, my department is outstanding, and I haven't had an issue with any faculty to date. I wish people knew how many resources are available on campus, I wish I had them at the first college I went to! They do all they can (with the cards they're dealt) to improve the experience of their students. College is NOT cheap, but I feel like I get my money's worth here. having multiple sources of coffee on campus is amazing! Some of the buildings aren't as great as the others, but I guess that's to be expected with a campus that's been here for 100 years. The constant construction gets pretty annoying, but luckily it doesn't interfere with my day too much. The campus is beautiful, making those long walks not SO unbearable. What I don't like is how spread out the campus is. There's really 3 sections of campus, and when you only have 10mins to get from up the hill to the water street buildings, it feels just about impossible! Also, the updates in some buildings are way over the top when some of the older buildings actually need basic renovations. HAAS and HSS don't have accessible or gender neutral bathrooms, or enough stalls in either building, yet Davies has 30 stalls on their upper floor that's hardly used.

Attended a spring career fair at UW-Eau Claire, and the registration fee was double what I paid for the same career fair at UW-La Crosse, while the ratio of employers to students was too high and there wasn’t enough engagement. Additionally, it was not disclosed in the registration that chairs were not provided, so it was four hours of standing which is not accessible or accommodating for individuals with chronic pain. Finally, the lunch included was cold, pre-packaged sandwiches, which was a pretty low effort item. I was not impressed with the school and will not be attending future events, it was probably the least valuable recruiting event of the spring semester.

I am glad I picked this school; the town is quaint with an active community, people stay on the weekends and there is a lot to do, the price is low, and I have had great experiences with my professors. I was a biology major for my first year and a half, then I switched to education. In both fields I had some wonderful professors, some who I still maintain a good professor-to-student relationship. The school is very well-rounded with many opportunities to get involved. I enjoyed intramurals, on-campus clubs, and met people and learned about others by going to events and taking advantage of the unorganized fun things to be found around Eau Claire if you explore a little bit.

If I could give it a zero I would. The professors don't care about teaching you at least a good majority you might find one a year, maybe. They only care about the money there and not the students. Would highly recommend going anywhere else.

My daughter and I just toured campus and left very impressed with what they have to offer!!! Lovely campus and amazing program offerings! On the way home we talked and couldn't find any reason why not to chose Eau Claire!?

Important Warning to UWEC Students: Drugging and Safety in Eau Claire:

I want to urge all UWEC students: Drugging is a serious and ongoing issue in Eau Claire. It is commonly believed that some of these incidents are linked to bartenders themselves. I was drugged in 2020 at the Pioneer Tavern. I woke up at 7 PM the next day, still hazy, and went to Sacred Heart Hospital. When I asked for testing, the hospital said they had no way to test for date rape drugs, which is appalling, given how many women have reported being drugged in Eau Claire.

If it weren't for my roommates, I don't know what might have happened to me.

There have been well over 20 student deaths in Eau Claire after nights of drinking, many of them involving drowning. Being drugged is disorienting enough, but it's made worse when you’re left with no answers and no way to get tested.
It should be a priority for UWEC and the city of Eau Claire to provide proper medical testing and to investigate patterns of danger to students. There is no real accountability for the people doing this, and women are often left to question themselves or are dismissed outright. Even when these instances don’t end in death, many students are left with long-term fear and trauma.
As a 2021 UWEC grad, I urge you:
Never walk home alone, even if Eau Claire feels “safe”
If you are intoxicated, know you’re vulnerable — stay with friends
Help strangers. If you see someone intoxicated and alone, please don’t look away

UWEC now has CASA, which is a good resource, but what can be done if basic testing still isn’t available? This is how violence against women continues in plain sight — no tools to confirm what happened, no accountability, and survivors wondering if it was all in their head.
