This store is terrible!
I went to the store this morning and all I can say is Big Y in Stafford Springs is ripping the shoppers there off!

$11.99 for a dozen eggs!
a friend of mine went to a different Big Y today were eggs were $6.99 a dozen!

$10.99 for 4 muffins
my friend checked her Big Y today, those same muffins were $6.49!!!

normally the fried chicken is always $7.99 this week $11.99!!!!!

the people that shop here are being Ripped Off!!!!
hood winked and bamboozled!!!!

I will no longer be shopping at this Big Y
I will go once a month to the Big Y in Ellington and stock up.

I will buy frozen or canned veggies until the spring comes when i can plant a vegetable garden!

i will do the same with fruits!

I encourage people to shop at their local farmers market and grow a garden if all possible!

I will get milk from the local gas station before i give another dime to this store!!!!

if possible I encourage others to take a stand and hold this store accountable for price gauging and ripping the people off!!!!

Great spot to pick up lunch. There's a pizza & sandwich spot close to the register and a seafood spot in the back. In addition, there are other options. On wednesday, the sushi are discounted. Furthermore, there is an eating area past the register.
Big Y tends to be more expensive than other markets, but there are discounted items from time to time.

Shopping at Big Y is always a good experience with employees Every Time. I'm a short person & there's almost always someone willing to help me.
The other day I couldn't reach the cereal on top shelf & couldn't find a non stick baking pan. Both times an employee was courteous & happily helped me.
The very nice cashier waved at me to come over to alert me that her line was open & also noticed I had a hole in the 5lb. bag of rice I bought.
The pleasant little female bagger got a replacement for me.
When I use self check, the people are always so nice & willing to help.
The bathroom is always clean too.
The digital coupons are a big help. Although there are fewer coupons that I can use with my dietary restrictions.
I am always pleased with my shopping trip!
However, the price of things have gone up so much, I do go to other stores if the same product is cheaper.

Prices are definitely high. The sales are worth going in. Bakery here is ok, I find the bakery in Tolland to be better.
The fresh made food is pretty good, can’t really go wrong with it. It’s also fairly affordable (Big Y grinders are way more affordable than subway imo). Sushi goes on sale on Wednesdays.
Fresh vegetables have always been of high quality. The meats I’ve gotten have been good too.
It definitely does feel a little more corporate since the owner’s children overtook operations. There’s bottle redemptions but I believe it’s limited to 25 bottles.
Workers have always been polite. One annoyance is sometimes they chat with people they know and stop doing their job.

OK for shopping, but the bakery is not good. We thought it would be fun to get a cake for the holiday. We wanted a carrot cakes, but they had none, so we got a chocolate layer cake. I can't imagine a more boring, almost flavorless cake, and it cost twenty dollars. Not fun. We will definitely bake our own cake next time, or go to Costco.

I want to start off by saying that I loved shopping here when I first moved into town, it was my go to shop, but that has changed. People are nice (those who haven’t left the company). This place has became very corporate, it never felt like that before it felt very much like a small town market, but it has gotten very corporate. The prices are high for no reason, and when something is marked wrong and you bring it up they go “i don’t know”. If I wanted that type of treatment I would go to Walmart. You’re the only grocery store in Stafford Springs CT, get it together.

Prices are a little too high, hard for low income families to properly shop so traveling for food is frequent, but its a good place for last minute items, or items on sale. Pizza is delicious. Sales are the best time to shop, especially 10/10 sale. I also love their floral area. I've bought 5 gorgeous plants and the cottage roses are cheap yet absolutely stunning.
