I recently had my boiler expansion tank blow on Thanksgiving day - luckily I had a replacement and installed it myself. Back in business (sort of).

Noticed that boiler was continuing to rise in pressure over the next few days so called Beacon/Shaffer whom I've been dealing with since 2007 for service and oil deliveries.

The appointment was scheduled for between 8-9AM and Dean (don't lose him Beacon!) one of the senior service techs showed up right at 8:15 and we replaced a number of parts on a 14 year old boiler that I wanted done, altogether while fixing the original issue of the increasing boiler pressure. Dean was very informative, patient with my questions and made some recommendations which we did that day regarding a PRV valve among other things.

Cost was fair and reasonable.

Outstanding service. Would highly recommend from a long time customer.

Update 2 weeks later - no response from customer service or VP/owner after reaching out multiple times.

Do not recommend.

Paid more than $600 labor and $100 in parts and it still didn’t work. Told to spend $600 more to try replacing other pieces on a 5-year-old boiler BUT thankfully, I called another company before burning all my $$$; the other company arrived the same day, diagnosed the actual issue, and fixed it within a 1-hour service call charge.

The Shaffer Beacon technician who visited twice repeatedly complained to us “just replace the stupid thing” and “I don’t do low voltage systems” and seemed very unsure of what to do. Significant portion of $600 in labor for the two visits seemed to be for reading the manual we keep next to the unit.

Shaffer Beacon customer service confirmed they provided the expected level of service and correct charges. Thus, they charged us for not knowing what to do and an unneeded part replacement.

We had a whole new furnace installed by Beacon Mechanical about 3 years ago. They were always very professional and easy to deal with. Then they were bought out by Shaffer and we've heard nothing but nightmare stories about this company. The town Facebook page is full of these stories. Pick a town in the Farmington Valley. We had a technician out here once right after Shaffer took over, who was on his last day because he was going to work for a competitor. He explained that all their techs were unhappy w the new guard and were looking for other jobs. A few months after that they sent a guy out here for service and we were severely overcharged. Turns out the tech had lied about how much time he actually spent at my house when he submitted the work order. My wife disputed the charges.. Fortunately, we have cameras that can substantiate how long the guy was actually aty property. We offered to send them the security cam footage to prove how long the tech was actually at the house, but they said no need. They reluctantly gave us a partial discount, which was nowhere near what we were expecting. In an effort to maintain a relationship w them, we let it go at that. They said nothing else. Now here we are a year later and we call for service and are told we were put on stop service due to that overcharge dispute last year. That's funny. No one told us that, or we would've gladly sought out a new mechanical services company. On one of the coldest days of the year, that's how a mechanical services company chooses to behave. You left my family w no heat. Shaffer Beacon is clearly not a community oriented company. They're here to gouge and turn a profit. If you feel you're being overcharged, don't say anything or you'll be told you're wrong and taken out of the system without your knowledge. Way to go Shaffer. You're really making good relationships in the Farmington Valley. I'd give you zero stars, but then I wouldn't be able to post my review to warn my neighbors about you. Friggin Shysters...

Had a leak in my tank and Shaffer Beacon was quick to respond and do a swap out with a new Roth 275. Tyler and Todd were mindful of my animals that live in the basement so they wouldnt escape while they were in and out. They worked were very professionaly and answered all my questions as well update me on things they were changing. Price was average when I shopped around but it was quality work and would 100% use then again for my heating needs.

Very unhappy with the last experience with Shaffer Beacon. Our system was working perfectly fine. Then, after their annual tune up, the system did not fire up. Three technicians later and more than $1100 later, the system was back up and running. I have little trust or confidence in their abilities at this time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! A fabulous company to work with from start to finish. Rebecca was awesome, contacting me prior to the AC installation to obtain information to initiate the rebate process for me. The guys that did the installation were nice and professional. They cleaned up and made sure I knew how the new system operated. This year they installed the AC, 2 years ago it was the heater. I trust them and they never disappoint!!!

Horrible company that botched a new boiler and oil tank install and failed to take responsibility. It would take a hundred pages to detail this mess, but to sum it up, they put old oil from the bottom of a 30 year old tank into a new tank, despite the giant warning sign on the oil tank they put in saying not to do so. We had soot issues and burned through oil faster than our 30 year old boiler, and when we reached out, the blame process began. First they said it was our chimney, so we had that cleaned (it was fine). Then they said it was something else. Then they tried to gaslight us with explanations that made zero sense. Eventually, after numerous service calls (while we had to take time off work over and over again), we called the "System 2000" dealer and they made Shaffer Beacon empty and clean the oil tanks and clean the boiler. That made it a bit better, but still more soot than usual and still burns through more oil than our neighbors who have the same system. Two years later and it has never worked right. They made many mistakes in the install and did not take responsibility. We requested to speak to the owner several times and he never once responded. Jason, the sales manager, out right lied repeatedly, told us money gets taken out of his pay if they have to reimburse us ( a major disincentive to fix issues), and in my opinion, was not acting in a professional and ethical manner. It is my recommendation that you avoid this company. I would hate to have any one else go through what we went through.
